Byrnes' injured legs slowly improving

Outfielder Eric Byrnes is making progress with his two injured hamstrings. "He ran a little bit today," D-backs manager Bob Melvin said. "He was probably about 50 percent, so nothing earth shattering. We will probably get after it a little bit harder after we get to New York."

Arizona outfielder Eric Byrnes, who has been on the disabled list since May 27 with strains in both of his hamstrings, is making progress. "He did some agility drills today," Arizona manager Bob Melvin said. "It was the first day for that. We'll progressively lead into the running part, which he is champing at the bit to do, but it was the first day that he did agilities out on the field."

Eric Byrnes better get used to Van Halen again. A music switch correlated with a slump-busting night as Byrnes helped the Diamondbacks rally for a 4-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night at Chase Field.
